ELMIRA, N.Y. – The William Paterson volleyball team (1-0) opened up its 2023 campaign with a 3-0 sweep against New England College (0-1) Sept. 1 at Elmira College.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Leading 4-3 in the first set, WP ran off seven of the next eight points on its way to a 25-10 win.
• The Pioneers cruised to a 25-9 second-set victory, then scored the final two points to take a 26-24 decision in the third set.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Freshman outside hitter Natalie Zabloudil (London, Ohio/London) paced the Pioneers with 10 kills and five digs.
• Graduate student outside hitter Rose Vail (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) posted nine kills, four digs and three service aces during her WP debut, and freshman outside hitter Cecilia Miller (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) added seven kills.
• Freshman setter Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) dished 20 assists.

• William Paterson will face Pittsburgh-Bradford and host Elmira at 10:00 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively, Saturday, Sept. 2.
