MONTCLAIR, N.J. – Five Pioneers scored in double figures but the William Paterson men's basketball team (2-6, 0-4 NJAC) ultimately fell, 94-88, in overtime to Montclair State (5-2, 3-1 NJAC) on the road in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) game Dec. 6.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Montclair State carried a one-point lead (39-38) into the second half and extended the advantage to 14 (53-39) following a 14-1 run that lasted 3:38 of action. However, the Pioneers chipped into the double-digit deficit and countered with a 16-5 run to pull within three (58-55) with 8:38 on the clock.
  • The Red Hawks maintained a slim edge until a 3-pointer by graduate student MJ Moncrieffe (Maplewood, N.J./Marist) with 3:43 left in the half sparked a 12-3 William Paterson run that put the Pioneers ahead by two (77-75). Montclair State evened the score with 41 seconds remaining in regulation to force an eventual overtime period.
  • In overtime, William Paterson grabbed a three-point lead (82-79) after opening the frame on a 5-2 run that lasted until the 2:44 mark. The Red Hawks responded with a 9-2 run after burying three shots from long range to go ahead by four (88-84).
