WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson University will be hosting the 2023 Division III Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Women's Volleyball Championship Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Sports and Recreation Center.

WHAT'S AT STAKE
  • The winner of the matchup between top-seeded William Paterson and fourth-seeded FDU-Florham will advance to the title match at 3:00 p.m. against the winner of the matchup between second-seeded Allegheny and third-seeded PSU Behrend.
 
WP IN THE ECAC TOURNAMENT
  • The Pioneers are making their second appearance in the ECAC Tournament and first since 1985.

SCOUTING THE PIONEERS
  • William Paterson owns a 25-6 overall record and played to a 5-3 mark in New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) action.
  • The 25 wins are the most for the program since the 1988 team won 26 matches.
  • The Pioneers have won 14 of their last 16 matches and enter the ECAC Tournament with a 12-1 record at home this year. It's the most home wins in a season for the program since 2008.
  • First-Team All-NJAC performer Cecilia Miller (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) leads the WP attack with 370 kills and ranks second on the team in digs with 300.
  • Freshman Natalie Zabloudil (London, Ohio/London), a second-team all-conference honoree, is second on the team in kills (333).
  • Freshman setter Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) earned All-NJAC Honorable Mention and has handed out 977 assists for a 10.18 assists/set average.
  • Junior libero Paola Molina (Hatillo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Felipe), a second-team all-conference selection and the program's first-ever NJAC Defensive Player of the Year, has recorded a team-high 460 digs with a 4.84 digs/set average.
  • Freshman Sofia Zablackis (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East), the program's single-season leader in block assists, averages 1.16 blocks/set and has compiled 113 total blocks on the year.

SCOUTING THE DEVILS
  • FDU-Florham is 14-13 overall and went 1-6 in the MAC Freedom.
  • The Devils closed out the regular season with back-to-back wins over Medgar Evers (Oct. 26) and King's (Nov. 1).
  • Junior middle blocker Rachel Reiter leads the team with 154 kills while sophomore middle blocker Gabbie Hart is second with 152.
  • Freshman setter Victoria Carrico has dished out 402 assists and averages 4.37 assists/set.
  • Senior libero Charlotte Fruscione is first on the team with 362 digs and owns a 3.89 digs/set average.
 
SCOUTING THE GATORS
  • Allegheny has compiled a 22-9 overall record and finished 8-2 in the President's Athletic Conference (PAC).
  • The Gators went into the PAC Tournament as the third seed and picked up a 3-1 win over sixth-seeded Grove City before falling to second-seeded Bethany, 3-0, in the semifinals.
  • Freshman outside hitter Angelee Bawek leads with team with 340 kills while senior outside hitter Emma Chambers ranks second with 330.
  • Sophomore Izzy Gray has served as the team's primary setter, dishing out a team-best 609 assists.
  • Junior setter Meagan Robare has recorded 408 assists.
  • Sophomore defensive specialist Jacy Diaz is first on the team in digs with 618.
 
SCOUTING THE LIONS
  • PSU Behrend is 21-6 overall and played to an 8-1 record in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC).
  • The Lions earned a bye in the AMCC Tournament as the second seed but ultimately fell to third-seeded Alfred State, 3-0, in the semifinals.
  • PSU Behrend has won 10 of its last 12 outings.
  • The Lions own an 11-4 record away from home this season. 
  • Senior outside hitter Hannah Phillips paces the Lions with 345 kills and is second in digs with 289.
  • Senior middle hitter Breana Reynolds ranks second on the squad in kills with 262 to pair with a team-best 45 total blocks.
  • Senior setter Meg Goodsel has dished out 888 assists, which is good for a 9.15 assists/set average.
  • Sophomore libero Sara Nobach has posted a team-high 438 digs.
