Volleyball Blanks NJCU in Three Sets

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (23-5, 5-3 NJAC) closed out regular-season NJAC play with a three-set victory over New Jersey City University (2-21, 0-8 NJAC) on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at the Sports and Recreation Center.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Tied at 16, a successful attack by freshman Cecilia Miller (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) sparked a 9-3 run to secure the 25-19 first-set win.
  • The Gothic Knights tied the score at four in the second-set, but the Pioneers led the rest of the way to a 25-12 set win. WP outscored NJCU 18-5 in kills during the set.
  • Sophomore Erica Bickart (Tucson, Ariz./Marana) subbed in at 21-15 and served three consecutive aces to put extend the lead to 24-15. The Gothic Knights followed with an attack error to drop the third-set 25-15. The Pioneers had the advantage the entire set.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Freshman Natalie Zabloudil (London, Ohio/London) posted a game-high 14 kills while adding three blocks and three digs.
  • Miller earned her 13th double-double performance of the season with 10 kill and 11 digs.
  • Freshman Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) assisted on 39 kills.
  • Junior Paola Molina (Hatillo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Felipe) secured a team-high 13 digs.

  • William Paterson travels to New York, N.Y. for a 6:00 p.m. non-conference matchup against Hunter on Thursday, Nov. 2.
