Volleyball Closes Out Regular Season With Three-Set Win Over Hunter

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (23-5) earned a non-conference victory on the road, defeating Hunter (20-9), 3-0, to close out the regular season on Thursday, Nov. 2.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • WP swept Hunter, 25-9, in the first set, led by freshman Natalie Zabloudil (London, Ohio/London) with six successful attacks.
  • The Pioneers held the advantage the entire time, en route to a 25-14 second-set win. Freshmen Sofia Zablackis (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East), Cecilia Miller (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial), Kristian Glenn (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) and Zabloudil tallied three kills each as WP outscored Hunter 15-6 in kills.
  • Hunter started the third set with a 6-0 run but freshman Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) found Zabloudil for the kill to spark a 7-1 run and tie the score (7-7). The Hawks slipped away, dropping the third set and match, 25-20. Miller led the set with four kills and three service aces.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Zabloudil tallied a game-high 12 kills and Miller added 10 kills with a season-high four aces.
  • Houpt assisted on 33 points and secured seven digs and two aces.
  • Junior Paola Molina (Hatillo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Felipe) posted her sixth consecutive double-digit dig performance with 16 digs.
  • Zablackis recorded a game-high seven total blocks. Senior Rose Vail (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney), Houpt and Glenn added season-highs with five total blocks each.
  • The Pioneers outscored the Hawks 41-19 in kills and 8-0 in service aces. WP earned a season-high 26 total blocks.
  • WP earned its 14th consecutive set win against Hunter.

  • William Paterson hosts the NJAC Tournament Quarterfinals against Rowan on Tuesday, Nov. 7 for a 7:00 p.m. matchup.
