CHESTER, Pa. – The William Paterson volleyball team (20-5, 4-3 NJAC) secured a 3-2 (25-19, 21-25, 25-27, 25-15, 15-8) non-conference road victory at Widener (15-10, 2-4 MAC Commonwealth) Oct. 26.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Pioneers trailed 15-12 in the opening set before a kill by freshman Cecilia Miller (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) sparked a 6-0 run. William Paterson and Widener traded points for a few rallies before the Pioneers posted four unanswered points to earn the 25-19 set win.
- The two sides were even at 21-21 in the second set, but the Pride finished strong with four straight points to capture the 25-21 set victory.
- It was a back-and-forth battle in the third set as the Pioneers led 23-20 before the Pride posted four unanswered points to take a one-point (24-23) lead. A kill by Miller tied the game, but Widener outscored WP 3-1 to take the 27-25 win.
- The Pioneers and Pride were tied at 10-10 when a kill by freshman Natalie Zabloudil (London, Ohio/London) started a 15-5 run that gave WP the 25-15 set victory.
- The Pride evened the score in the fifth set at 5-5 before William Paterson got hot and cruised to a 10-3 run to claim the 15-8 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Pioneers reached the 20-win mark in a season for the first time since the 2018 campaign.
- Miller logged a match-best 18 kills to pair with 18 digs for her 11th double-double of the season.
- Graduate student Rose Vail (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) recorded a season-best 16 kills and eight digs.
- Zabloudil notched a 13-kill outing with eight digs and six aces.
- Freshman Kristian Glenn (Weston, Fla./Cypress Bay) had a career-high 12 kills.
- Freshman Sofia Zablackis (East Stroudsburg, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) posted eight blocks and six kills.
- Freshman Abby Houpt (Garnet Valley, Pa./Garnet Valley) dished out a career-high 59 assists to go along with 11 digs for her fifth career double-double.
- Junior Paola Molina (Hatillo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Felipe) recorded 18 digs.
- Junior Ciara Feliz (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) and sophomore Kiyarah Hicks (Redmond, Ore./Redmond) finished with 10 digs apiece.
