Pioneers Extend Win Streak to Eight

VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (19-4, 4-2 NJAC) celebrated senior Rose Vail (Phoenix, Md./Dulaney) with a 3-0 sweep over Montclair State (12-12, 2-5 NJAC) Oct. 19 at the Sports and Recreation Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Tied at 19, freshman Natalie Zabloudil (London, Ohio/London) sparked a 6-2 run with a successful attack to secure the 25-21 first-set victory. Freshman Cecilia Miller (Virginia Beach, Va./First Colonial) led the set with nine kills.
  • Down by one (2-1), Vail sparked a WP 8-1 run to grab a six-point advantage (9-3). The Pioneers held the lead en route to a 25-15 second-set win.
  • The Red Hawks led 4-3 in the third set until a Montclair service error tied the score. Sophomore Abigail Hayth (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) followed with two consecutive service aces to give the Pioneers the lead. Montclair cut the deficit, tying at 16, but dropped the next three points on errors. WP led the rest of the way, posting a 25-19 third-set and match victory.
