Volleyball Sweeps Brooklyn and Maritime on Senior Day

WAYNE, N.J. – The WP volleyball team (11-15) swept Brooklyn (13-12) and Maritime (2-16) in three sets at its last home match of the season on Oct. 22 at the Sports and Rec Center.
 
MATCH ONE 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • WP defeated Brooklyn College, securing set wins of 25-16, 25-23 and 25-18.
  • The Pioneers outscored the Bulldogs in aces, 11-2.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Freshman Abigail Herring (Appleton, Wis./Appleton West) contributed nine kills and three blocks. Freshman Abigail Hayth (Milford, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) added nine kills.
  • Senior Kathleen Burrough (North Burlington, N.J./North Burlington) secured six kills and four aces against the Bulldogs.
  • Freshman Ava Padwelka (Flanders, N.J./Mount Olive) posted 29 assists.
  • Junior Paola Molina (Hatillo, Puerto Rico/Colegio San Felipe) tallied a team-high 16 digs.
MATCH TWO
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers blanked the Privateers in three set wins, 25-14, 25-17 and 25-15.
  • WP outscored the privateers in kills (37-15) and aces (16-5).
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Burrough, Herring and freshman Carissa Ostolaza (Woodland Park, N.J./Passaic Valley Regional) posted seven kills each.
  • Freshman Alyssa Roccuzzo (Garrison, N.Y./Walter Panas) recorded 11 assists and freshman Alexa Jarvis (Lake Mary, Fla./Lake Mary) added 10 assists.
  • Molina totaled 12 digs and a season-high six aces.
