Men's Basketball Presses Stockton, Fall 75-69

WAYNE, N.J.- The William Paterson men's basketball team (7-5, 4-3 NJAC) fell just short at home to Stockon (11-2, 6-1 NJAC) 75-69, on Jan. 8.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • WP held a 13-12 lead at the 10:03 mark, but a slow first half from both sided ended with Stockton holding a 37-26 lead.
  • The Pioneer offense erupted to start the second half, as they regained a 44-39 lead at the 14:31 mark, after a nine point swing from three made three-pointers.
  • A close final ten minuets came down to the Ospreys holding a 70-68 lead with 1:29 remaining.
  • Stockton secured the victory with five straight made free throws.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:  
  • Graduate student guard Brian Monaghan (Florham Park, N.J./Morristown-Beard) led WP with 15 points and six rebounds.
  • Junior forward Yvens Monfleury (Newark, N.J./American History) finished with 11 points and eight rebounds in his season debut.
  • Freshman guard Neftali Valentin (Hackensack, N.J./Hackensack) and junior forward Michael Gilmore (Teaneck, N.J./Pine Forge Academy) both finished in double figures.
