Women's Basketball Takes Down Rutgers-Newark at Home

WAYNE, N.J.- The William Paterson women's basketball team (9-6, 8-3 NJAC) took care of Rutgers-Newark (3-12, 1-10 NJAC) at home, by a score of 72-30, on Jan 22.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Pioneers' took a 21-7 lead with 1:28 left in the first quarter.
  • WP lead 41-13 at the half. 
  • The Pioneers' outscored the Scarlet Raiders 31-17 in the second half to secure the win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Junior guard Yakira Rosa (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) led WP with 15 points, to go along with four assists.
  • Freshman forward Mackenzie O'Brien (Staten Island, N.Y./Tottenville) finished with a career-high 11 points and nine rebounds.
  • Senior forward Justina Cabezas (Carlstadt, N.J./Becton Regional) added nine points and four steals.
  • The Pioneers' forced 24 turnovers.
