WAYNE, N.J.- The William Paterson men's basketball team (9-7, 6-5 NJAC) stunned visiting Rutgers-Newark (11-6, 8-3 NJAC) off a game winning buzzer beater from senior guard Adryan Lopez (Garfield, N.J./Lyndhurst) for the 60-58 win on Jan 22.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Rutgers-Newark held a 24-22 lead with 5:24 left in the first half.
• A low scoring, defensive half ended with the Scarlet Raiders holding a 29-27 lead.
• The Scarlet Raiders jumped out to a 44-34 lead at the 13:13 mark.
• Junior guard Jadon Cepeda (West New York, N.J./Memorial) cut the deficit to one, as Rutgers-Newark led 46-45 with 7:16 remaining.
• A late three from senior guard Nick Rodriguez (Redding, Calif./Shasta) tied the game at 56-56 with 59 seconds left.
• Junior forward Yvens Monfleury (Newark, N.J./American History) converted two free throws with 28 seconds remaining, giving the Pioneers' their first lead of the half.
• Rutgers-Newark scored on the following possession, leaving the score, 58-58 with six seconds left.
• Graduate student guard Domenic Mignone (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) kicked out to Lopez on the right wing, as he sunk the game winner as the buzzer sounded.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Mignone finished with 21 points and four assists, securing his 13th straight game scoring double-digit points.
• Cepeda added 12 points and four rebounds.
