WAYNE, N.J.- The William Paterson volleyball team (8-5, 2-2 NJAC) defeated the New Jersey City Gothic Knights (8-2, 1-2 NJAC) 3-1 on Tuesday, Sep. 28, for its second NJAC win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• The Gothic Knights took set one by a score of 25-22.
• The Pioneers followed up with three straight set wins of 26-24, 25-16 and 25-21.
• WP ended the match with a ferocious kill by junior middle hitter Kathleen Burrough (North Burlington, N.J./North Burlington).

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Senior setter Kristen Volavka set a new career high in assists with 39.
• Junior middle hitter Leila Ksiyer (Bogota, N.J./Bogota ) led the Pioneers with 21 kills and two blocks.
• Senior outside hitter Dakota Apicella (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) added 19 digs and 18 kills.
• Burrough and Apicella had four service aces each.
