Volleyball Presses Throughout, But Can’t Overcome Kean

Pioneers Suffer 19-25, 23-25, 18-25 Loss

UNION, N.J. – The Pioneers pressed throughout, but William Paterson (6-5, 0-2 NJAC) couldn't overcome host Kean (5-5, 2-0 NJAC) and suffered a 3-0 volleyball loss Sept. 21.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • WP pulled to within four late before falling 25-19 during the first set. The Pioneers scored twice to make it a 24-23 margin in the second set, but the Cougars were able to secure the final point for a 25-23 win. Five straight KU points midway through the third helped the home team finish the match with a 25-18 victory.  
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Senior outside hitter Dakota Apicella (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) posted 12 kills and 12 digs. Junior middle hitter Leila Ksiyer (Bogota, N.J./Bogota ) added nine kills and nine digs.
  • Senior libero/outside hitter Kyla Sebello (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) contributed 12 digs, and senior setter Kristin Volavka (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) dished 24 assists.
