Pioneers Capture Wins Against Bard and John Jay During Tri-Match

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (6-4, 0-1 NJAC) registered three-set wins against Bard (3-6) and John Jay (2-4) during its home Tri-Match, Sept. 18.

MATCH ONE
HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Pioneers captured set wins of 25-12, 26-24, 25-14 to down the Raptors.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Senior outside hitter Dakota Apicella (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) led WP in kills, aces and digs with 18, four and 19, respectively. 
  • Senior setter Kristin Volavka (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) notched her sixth match with 30-plus assists this season.
  • Junior middle hitter Kathleen Burrough (North Burlington, N.J./North Burlington) added two blocks.

MATCH TWO
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • WP secured set wins of 25-17, 25-21 and 25-18, never trailing once throughout the entire match.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • The Pioneers had six service aces in the match, the second most in any match this season.
  • Apicella collected 14 kills and 14 digs, while junior middle hitter Leila Ksiyer (Bogota, N.J./Bogota ) contributed nine kills and 17 digs.
  • Volavka added another 20-plus assist match with 24.

  • William Paterson is on the road this Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 7:00 p.m., visiting Kean in its second conference match of the year.
