Women's Basketball Records 77-60 Road Win at Rutgers-Newark

NEWARK, N.J.- The William Paterson women's basketball team (3-3, 3-0 NJAC) registered a 77-60 win at Rutgers-Newark (3-4, 0-2 NJAC) Dec. 4, earning its third New Jersey Athletic Conference win of the season. 

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • WP jumped out to a quick 10-2 lead at the 5:32 mark of the first quarter.
  • William Paterson outscored Rutgers-Newark, 16-7, in the second quarter.
  • The Pioneers' lead grew to 16, as they held a 41-25 advantage with 7:07 left in the third.
  • The WP lead never fell to under double-digits in the fourth quarter.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Senior forward Brianna Brooks (Saddle Brook, N.J./Saddle Brook) finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds, recording her second double-double of the season.
  • Senior forward Sierra Strong (Howell, N.J./Freehold Boro) led the Pioneers with 20 points, a new career high.
  • Senior forward Justina Cabezas (Carlstadt, N.J./Becton Regional) added 16 points and three blocks.
