SELINSGROVE, PA.- The William Paterson women's basketball team (0-1) dropped a 59-56 nail biter against Susquehanna (3-0) in its season opener on Nov. 13 in the opening round of the The Yvonne Young Esworthy Memorial Tournament.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• A strong defensive performance from both teams in the first half ended with the Pioneers leading, 27-25. 
• An 8-0 run with only two minutes to play in the third quarter gave WP a 42-32 lead.
• Susquehanna ended the game on a 10-0 run.
• The Pioneers missed two free throws with two seconds left when trailing 58-56.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Junior forward Qiana Vigo (Ewing, N.J./The Hill School) led the Pioneers with 15 points and five rebounds in her Pioneer debut.
• Freshman guard Victoria Palladino (Middletown, N.J./Middletown North) finished her collegiate debut with 13 points.
• Senior forward Brianna Brooks (Saddle Brook, N.J./Saddle Brook) added eight points and six rebounds.

UP NEXT:

• The Pioneers will face Wesleyan in the consolation game of the tournament on Sunday, Nov. 14, at 1:00 p.m.
