Von Giebel’s Overtime Header Lifts Men’s Soccer Past Baruch, 3-2

WAYNE, N.J. – Senior forward Jacob Von Giebel's (Lambertville, N.J./South Hunterdon) header less than three minutes into overtime lifted the William Paterson men's soccer team (4-7-1) to a 3-2 victory against visiting Baruch (2-4) Oct. 4.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Bearcats were awarded a penalty kick in the 14th minute that they converted for a 1-0 lead, and less than four minutes later they got on the end of a ball played over the top from the deep left sideline, finding the net for a 2-0 Baruch lead.
  • The Pioneers got one goal back at the 42:15 mark as freshman forward Diego Navas Trujillo (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) knocked home a PK.
  • WP leveled the score at 2-2 less than a minute into the second period when senior midfielder Ryan Goggins (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) buried a rebound.
  • After a saved free kick, William Paterson was awarded a corner from the right side. The ball came long to the left wing to Navas Trujillo, who sent it back across the field to the right side of the box. Von Giebel's header tucked inside the right post for his second game winner of the season.
