Women’s Basketball Comes Up Short at Rowan, 75-63

GLASSBORO, N.J. -- The William Paterson women's basketball team (6-7, 4-2 NJAC) suffered its first New Jersey Athletic Conference loss in over a month, falling at Rowan (12-1, 6-0 NJAC), 75-63, Jan. 8.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Rowan used a 9-1 run late in the first quarter to take an 18-13 edge after 10 minutes. In the second period, the Pioneers forced eight Prof turnovers to keep things close, but still trailed by nine at intermission, 37-28.
  • Rowan broke the game open in the third frame, outscoring WP 26-11 and held a 24-point advantage, 63-39, heading into the fourth.
  • William Paterson would attempt a late rally, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome as the hosts came away with the win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Freshman guard Madison Dulude (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) finished with a team-high 17 points and added six rebounds and two steals.
  • Senior guard Alisa Giordano (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) filled the stat sheet on both ends of the floor, contributed 14 points, seven boards, four assists and five steals.

UP NEXT:
  • WP returns home to challenge Kean Saturday, Jan. 11, at 1:00 p.m.
