Women's Basketball Completes Second-Half Comeback, Downs Neumann, 61-54

Dulude Named to All-Tounament Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Trailing by as many as 13 points late in the first half, the William Paterson women's basketball team (6-6) rallied in the second half to run past Neumann (4-9), 61-54, in the consolation round of the Steel Club Classic Jan. 5. 
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Neumann used a 15-2 run that spanned 5:46 to open up a 13-point lead (23-10, 7:33), and held an eight-point edge at the break, 27-19. 
  • The Pioneer offense began to click in the third quarter, outscoring the Knights 20-11 during the frame to take a one-point advantage, 39-38, into the fourth.
  • After trading buckets for most of the final stanza, Neumann pushed ahead 49-48, but WP used a 12-1 burst to pull away late for the victory. 

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Freshman guard Madison Dulude (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) finished with a career-best 27 points, her third 20+ point output of the season. 
  • Sophomore guard Danica DeFrank (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex) registered a season-best 11 points to go along with seven rebounds, while junior forward Vianca Soriano (New Milford, N.J./New Milford) added 10 tallies while pulling down seven boards. 
  • Following the game, Dulude was named to the Steel Club Classic All-Tournament Team.
