BETHLEHEM, Pa. – William Paterson women's basketball (5-6) was unable to erase a large first half deficit as the Pioneers fell to Lycoming (8-4), 68-49, in the first round of the Steel Club Classic hosted by Moravian College Jan. 4.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Lycoming owned the opening half, outscoring WP 20-6 in the first and 24-10 in the second and held a 44-16 lead at intermission.
• The Pioneers held the Warriors to just 9-32 shooting (.281) and forced nine second half turnovers, but the early struggles were just too much to overcome as Lycoming came away with the win.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Sophomore forward Justina Cabezas (Carlstadt, N.J./Becton Regional) tallied seven points and pulled down a team-high 10 rebounds in defeat.
• Juniors Brianna Brooks (Saddle Brook, N.J./Saddle Brook) and Vianca Soriano (New Milford, N.J./New Milford) shared top honors in scoring as both finished with eight points.
