EWING, N.J. – The William Paterson women's basketball team (7-8, 5-3 NJAC) nearly upended the top team in the New Jersey Athletic Conference for the second time in a week, but the Pioneers fell on the road to The College of New Jersey (10-5, 7-1 NJAC), 55-45, Jan. 15.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The William Paterson offense was unable to find any rhythm during the first half, as the Pioneers connected on just 6-for-31 (.194) attempts from the field, and trailed the Lions by 15 at the break, 31-16.
- With TCNJ ahead 44-31 at the start of the fourth quarter, WP used an 11-4 run to make it a six-point contest (48-42) with 3:02 remaining. However, the Lions would pull away late for the 10-point conference win.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Senior guard Alisa Giordano (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) scored a season-best 20 points, and freshman guard Madison Dulude (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) finished with nine tallies and a team-leading four steals.
- The Pioneers committed a season-low 13 turnovers while forcing the Lions into 24 miscues which led to 13 points.
