Men’s Basketball Falls at The College of New Jersey, 83-59

EWING, N.J. – The William Paterson men's basketball team (7-8, 3-5 NJAC) dropped its conference road contest to The College of New Jersey (8-7, 5-3 NJAC), 83-59, Jan. 15.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • A back-and-forth opening stanza saw TCNJ hold a slight 32-28 lead before WP scored five straight points, a three-pointer by junior Malcolm McLeod (Teaneck, N.J./Eastern Christian) and a driving layup from senior Anthony Uribe (Hackensack, N.J./Bergen Catholic), to move in front (33-32) with just under a minute remaining. The Lions would add a layup on the next possession and go into the locker room with a one-point advantage.
  • With WP holding a 51-47 edge midway through the second half, TCNJ put together a 20-2 run over a five-minute stretch to open a 67-53 lead with 5:29 to go in the period. The hosts would push their lead to as many as 24 en route to the conference victory.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • McLeod scored a team-high 16 point, adding eight rebounds and four assists.
  • In the second half, the Lions shot 16-for-31 (.516) and 8-for-15 (.533) from three-point range while the Pioneers knocked down just 33.3 (10-30) percent of their shots in the period.

  • WP returns home to face Ramapo Saturday, Jan. 18, at 3:00 p.m.
