NEW YORK, N.Y. – Outside hitters Alyson Toman (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) and Alexa Houston (Tuckerton, N.J./Pinelands Regional) combined for 20 kills as William Paterson blanked John Jay, 3-0, giving head coach Sandy Ferrarella her 700th career win Sept. 7.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• WP hit .476 (11 kills, on error, 21 attempts) during a 25-7 victory in the first set. The Pioneers carried momentum into the second frame, hitting .517 and putting down 18 kills for a 25-7 win before closing out the Bloodhounds in the third, 25-19.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Houston registered eight kills on nine swings, good for an outrageous .889 hitting percentage. Toman tallied a team-high 12 kills, while freshman Leila Ksiyer (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) added seven on 14 attempts with just one error (.429).
• Defensively, senior libero Barbara Colizza (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) collected a team-high 11 digs, and junior Dakota Apicella (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) added seven.
• Sophomore setter Kristin Volavka (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) posted her third 30+ assist performance of the season, contributing 31 to go along with three service aces.
• Ferrarella now owns a record of 700-431 (.619) in 41 seasons on the WP sideline. She currently ranks eighth among active Division III coaches, and 23rd overall, in victories.

• William Paterson makes its home debut Tuesday, Sept. 20, at 7:00 p.m. against Mount Saint Vincent.
