NEW YORK, N.Y. – The William Paterson volleyball team (1-1) could not close out Hunter College (1-0) on the road, falling to the Hawks in five set, 14-25, 25-23, 25-21, 20-25, 9-15 Sept. 3.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• After dropping the opening set 25-14, WP got a kill from senior outside hitter Alyson Toman (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) on set point to tie things up at 1-1.
• Tied at 20-20 late in the third, two service aces by sophomore Kyla Sebello (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson), coupled with kills from Kayla Nelson (Clifton, N.J./Passaic County Technical Institute ) and Barbara Colizza (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) gave the Pioneers a 2-1 edge.
• The Hawks would rally to take the fourth frame before using an early run to hold off the Pioneers in the fifth, 15-9.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Senior Libero Barbara Colizza (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) had a career-best 22 digs, while freshman Alexa Houston (Tuckerton, N.J./Pinelands Regional) finished with 16.
• Sophomore setter Kristin Volavka (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) posted her second double-double in as many games, ending with 39 assists and 11 digs.
• On the attack, freshman Leila Ksiyer (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) posted a team-high 14 kills, followed by Toman (12) and sophomore Jamie O'Shea (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) (11).
