Volleyball Drops Hard-Fought Match to Rowan

WAYNE, N.J. – Four Pioneers recorded double-digit digs as William Paterson volleyball (7-6, 0-2 NJAC) battled throughout the match, ultimately falling to New Jersey Athletic Conference foe Rowan (9-7, 2-1 NJAC), 3-0, Sept. 26.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Both team traded points in the first frame before the Profs used a 10-1 run to pull ahead and take the opener, 25-18. Rowan took the second stanza, 25-19, and raced out to 6-1 edge in third, but WP kept things interesting, staying within two points throughout before dropping the set, 25-20.
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Senior libero Barbara Colizza (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) recorded a team-high 15 digs, her ninth double-digit output of the season. Sophomores Camryn Norman (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional) and Kyla Sebello (Jersey City, N.J./Dickinson) finished with 12 defensive scoops, and junior Dakota Apicella (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) added 10.
  • Senior outside hitter Alyson Toman (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) led the Pioneers with eight kills, and junior Jamie O'Shea (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) contributed seven.
  • At the net, O'Shea and freshman Leila Ksiyer (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) each tallied a pair of blocks.
