WAYNE, N.J. – Senior outside hitter
Alyson Toman (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) totaled 32 kills, including the 1,000th of her career, as William Paterson volleyball (7-4) registered a pair of 3-0 sweeps against Lehman (2-11) and King's College (3-4) Sept. 21.
HOW IT HAPPENED VS LEHMAN:
- WP collected 13 kills and zero errors on 21 attempts (.619) for a quick 25-5 opening set win. In the second frame, the Pioneers hit a game-high .632 (13 kills, one error, 19 attempts) during the 25-11 triumph, and posted a 25-11 decision in the third to finish the sweep.
HOW IT HAPPENED VS KING'S:
- The momentum for the Pioneers continued during the second match, beginning with a dominant 25-4 win in the first frame. William Paterson completed the sweep of King's with a pair of 25-11 decisions in the second and third stanzas.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Toman became just the fifth Pioneer to hit the 1,000 kill mark in program history, and the first since Megan Maher in 2011.
- Sophomore setter Kristin Volavka (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) finished with 60 assists and nine aces across two matches, while freshman middle hitter Leila Ksiyer (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) tallied 14 kills with just one error on 21 swings (.619 hitting percentage).
- Senior Barbara Colizza (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) notched 20 digs, and junior Dakota Apicella (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) ended with 19.
