Women’s Basketball Snaps Losing Skid With a 71-66 Conference Road Win Over New Jersey City

Pioneers down Gothic Knights to level NJAC record

JERSEY CITY, N.J. – Freshman forward Allison McBride (Ringwood, N.J./Lakeland Regional) led all players with 17 points as William Paterson women's basketball (2-5, 1-1 NJAC) leveled its New Jersey Athletic Conference record with a 71-66 road win against New Jersey City (1-4, 0-2 NJAC) Dec. 4.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The first half belonged to the Pioneers, who shot 51.7% (15-29) from the field and forced 18 Gothic Knight turnovers in the opening 20 minutes to take a 44-30 lead into the break.
  • After intermission, NJCU outscored WP 17-6 in the third to cut the deficit to three, 50-47, heading into the final stanza.
  • With William Paterson clinging to a slim 60-56 advantage with 4:08 remaining, freshman Madison Dulude's (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) trifecta capped off a 5-0 burst to push the lead to nine (65-56). NJCU would make a run, but WP knock down four free throws late to come away with the road win.
