Women's Basketball Bested by FDU-Florham, 66-65

MADISON, N.J. – Freshman guard Madison Dulude (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) led all players with 20 points, but William Paterson women's basketball (1-5) was topped on the road by FDU-Florham (2-5), 66-65, Dec. 1.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • With FDU holding a slim 39-33 edge at halftime, WP dominated the next 10 minutes, outscoring the Devils 15-6 to take a 48-47 lead into the final period. Neither team was able to gain any separation during a back-and-forth final stanza, until FDU hit a pair of free throws to move ahead, 64-60, with less than a minute remaining. Senior guard Alisa Giordano (Wood-Ridge, N.J./Wood-Ridge) drained a three-pointer with 34 seconds left to keep things interesting, but the Devils converted two at the charity stripe to seal the 66-65 win.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Dulude shot 44.4% (8-18) from the field to register her second-straight 20-point scoring output.
  • Giordano contributed 15 tallies and a team-high six rebounds, while freshman guard Yakira Rosa (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) posted eight points and four boards.

UP NEXT:
  • WP resumes conference play with a road contest against New Jersey City Wednesday, Dec. 4, at 6:00 p.m.
