WAYNE, N.J. – William Paterson volleyball (9-9, 1-5 NJAC) battled each set before ultimately falling to visiting Montclair State (17-6, 4-3 NJAC) in New Jersey Athletic Conference action, 3-0, Oct. 17.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

With the scored tied 16-16 in the opener, the Red Hawks finished the set on a 9-2 run for to claim the 25-18 victory. Both teams traded points throughout the second before Montclair State used a late scoring surge to secure the 25-18 triumph. Down by as many as five points in the third, William Paterson rallied to cut the deficit to one, 21-20, but MSU regrouped and took the finale 25-21.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Senior outside hitter Alyson Toman (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) slammed a team-high 10 kills on .318 hitting, while sophomore Jamie O'Shea (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) and freshman Leila Ksiyer (Bogota, N.J./Bogota) each contributed six.
Sophomore setter Kristin Volavka (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) registered 24 assists and eight digs, and senior libero Barbara Colizza (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) tallied 10 digs.
