NEWARK, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (9-8, 1-4 NJAC) dropped its New Jersey Athletic Conference road contest to Rutgers-Newark (13-8, 2-3 NJAC), 3-0, Oct. 15.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Following a tightly-contested first set, a 25-16 Rutgers-Newark triumph, the Scarlet Raiders hit .560 (16 kills, two errors, 25 attempts) in the second frame and .355 (15, 4, 31) in the third to come away with the sweep.

 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

• Outside hitter Alyson Toman (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) posted a team-high eight kills, giving the senior 1,055 career kills and moving her into third place on WP's all-time chart.
• Freshman outside hitter Kathleen Burrough (North Burlington, N.J./North Burlington) matched her season-high with seven kills, while classmate Kayla Nelson (Clifton, N.J./Passaic County Technical Institute ) tallied six.
• Sophomore Camryn Norman (Swedesboro, N.J./Kingsway Regional) and senior Barbara Colizza (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne) shared top honors with eight digs apiece, and sophomore setter Kristin Volavka (Milford, Pa./Delaware Valley) finished with 20 assists.
