NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. – Behind impressive hitting and solid defense, the William Paterson volleyball team (5-0) remained perfect on the year after a 3-1 victory over the College of New Rochelle (0-6) on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Alyson Toman (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) totaled a match-high 16 kills with an incredible .433 hitting percentage. Jamie O'Shea (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) and Amanda Lembo (North Haledon, N.J./DePaul Catholic) both contributed double digit kills, adding 11 and 10, respectively.
- Kendall Caruso (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) again ran an effective offense, finishing with 44 assists.
- Christine Griffith (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) paced the Pioneers with 25 digs, while Lembo contributed 17 and Caruso added 13.
- WP struck for 58 kills and hit .288 on the afternoon.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- WP has evened the all-time series with New Rochelle 2-2
- The Pioneers are off to their best start to a season since 2014, when they began 12-0.
