Pioneer Volleyball Blows Past Purchase 3-0 in Non-Conference Road Test

PURCHASE, N.Y. – The William Paterson volleyball team ran its record to 7-0 this season following a sweep of Purchase College (1-2) on Thursday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • With the first set tied 8-8, back-to-back kills by Amanda Lembo (North Haledon, N.J./DePaul Catholic) and Chelliah Phillips (Bergenfield, N.J./Bergenfield) started a 10-1 run that gave the visiting Pioneers an insurmountable lead as they took the set going away, 25-10.
  • In the second set, the Panthers held an early 2-1 advantage, however, precise hitting and stout defense propelled WP to a 25-8 decision.
  • The Pioneers carried the momentum into the decisive set, racing out to a quick 7-0 lead. Purchase was unable to keep pace as WP won the set 25-7.
