Volleyball Locks Up NJAC Tournament Bid with Victory Over Ramapo

Pioneers Return to Postseason Behind Lembo’s Career Night

MAHWAH, N.J. – Senior outside hitter Amanda Lembo (North Haledon, N.J./DePaul Catholic) tallied a career-high 21 kills as the William Paterson volleyball team (21-4, 4-4 NJAC) secured a spot in the upcoming New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Tournament with a convincing 3-1 victory over Ramapo (9-19, 2-6 NJAC) Oct. 23.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • William Paterson hit .429 (13 kills, one error, 28 attempts) during its first-set triumph. After splitting the next two sets, the Pioneers erased a 15-18 deficit and took the final stanza, 25-21.  
 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • WP will compete in the NJAC Tournament for the 14th time in program history, and the first since the 2014 season.
  • Alyson Toman (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) and Jamie O'Shea (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) each notched double-digit kills, collecting 14 and 11, respectively.
  • Sophomore outside hitter/opposite Dakota Apicella (Kendall Park, N.J./South Brunswick) recorded a personal-best 22 digs, and Kendall Caruso (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) added 19 defensive scoops to go along with 45 assists.

  • William Paterson celebrates Senior Night prior to its regular-season finale Thursday, Oct. 25, at 7:00 p.m. against Pratt.
