WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (9-5) ran its win streak to four with a straight-set home victory against Saint Elizabeth (3-11) Sept. 28 at the Rec Center.
The Pioneers turned an 8-6 edge into a 21-8 lead en route to an opening 25-12 win. WP controlled the second set from the opening serve, rolling off the first four points on its way to a 25-16 triumph. William Paterson then scored 11 of the first 12 points of the third set to finish the match with a 25-8 victory.
Sophomore middle/outside hitter
Alyson Toman (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) paced the Pioneers with nine kills, while junior middle hitter
Christine Griffith (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) chipped in eight kills and six digs. Senior libero
Julianna Ginefra (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) contributed 10 digs and three service aces, sophomore libero
Kristina Ulrich (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) added nine digs, and junior setter
Kendall Caruso (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) contributed 23 assists and a pair of aces. WP hit a blistering .588 during the first set and .442 overall.
Sophomore outside hitter Yasmin'na Muhammad led CSE with eight kills, freshman setter Maura Farley dished 10 assists and freshman libero Jessica Garreffa had seven digs.
William Paterson will return to conference action Tuesday, Oct. 3, at Stockton at 7:00 p.m.
