Highlight of the Night
WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson men's soccer team (7-1) continued to roll Wednesday, taking down Brooklyn College (1-4-2) 4-0 Wednesday evening at Pioneer Soccer Park.
Sophomore
Cameron Allen (Old Bridge, N.J./Saint John Vianney) continued to be a major part of the Pioneers' potent offense, tallying two goals in the win. Sophomore
Dromo Quaye (North Plainfield, N.J./North Plainfield) and junior
Samuel Senat (Vauxhall, N.J./Union) each scored once, and senior
Tim Morris (Stony Point, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) and freshman
Scott Altieri (Sparta, N.J./Sparta) combined to make five saves for the team's sixth consecutive clean sheet.
The offense created several opportunities early, including a great look off of a corner kick in the 14th minute. Senior
JP Gonzales (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) found freshman
Oscar Castillo (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) just outside the penalty area, and Castillo sent a curling shot through the defense and inside the right post, but the goal was called back for a Pioneer attempting to make a play on the ball in an offside position. In the 33rd minute, the Pioneers finally broke through when Quaye took a pass from sophomore
Kyle Adams (Bordentown, N.J./Northern Burlington Regional) and drilled a curling rocket from 20 yards out just inside the left post to give William Paterson a 1-0 lead that the team carried into the halftime break.
Continuing to pressure the Brooklyn back line, the Pioneers broke through in the second half. Allen continued to have the hot foot for William Paterson, doubling the Black and Orange's advantage with his fifth goal of the season in the 63rd minute. Less than two minutes later, Allen found the back of the net again when he put home a loose ball in the box to make it 3-0. 67 seconds later William Paterson put the final touches on the win, when junior
Samuel Senat (Vauxhall, N.J./Union) shielded off a defender on a through ball and flicked the pass to the far post for his second goal in a Pioneer uniform.
