Keith Woods Wins 200th Career Match as Women’s Soccer Blanks St. Joseph’s L.I.

Pioneers Win 3-0 Behind Two-Goal Effort From Corrine Bowe

Video Highlights

WAYNE, N.J.  – The William Paterson women's soccer team (4-3) dominated from the opening to final whistle, putting a period on a 3-0 shutout victory vs. St. Joseph's – Long Island (3-4) with a Powerade dousing of head coach Keith Woods, who eclipsed the 200-career victory milestone with the win Sept. 20.

WP appeared determined to give Woods the career benchmark win at home right off the bat, taking the 1-0 lead in the second minute. Sophomore midfielder Kristen Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) served a through ball from the top of the box that twin sister freshman forward Corrine Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) deposited inside the right post, giving the Pioneers a lead they wouldn't relinquish.

Sophomore midfielder Lorraine Moffitt (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) took care of WP's next goal all by herself, hooking a free kick from 18 yards out that nestled itself inside the upper-right corner of the box, establishing a 2-0 upper hand in the 28th minute.

Corrine Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) penciled in her first career multi-goal contest by scoring in the 66th minute as well. The freshman forward took a cross from the left wing off the foot of sophomore back Ashley Cozzi (Middletown, N.J./Middletown South) and beat St. Joseph's – Long Island sophomore goalkeeper Juliana Cintron-Leonardo to the right post for a 3-0 lead.

Senior goalkeeper Angela Sandelli (Landing, N.J./Roxbury) earned her second shutout of the season, making two saves. Cintron-Leonardo made six saves on the evening. The Pioneers would outshoot the Golden Eagles 20-9 overall and 9-2 in shots on goal.

WP returns to conference competition when it travels to face Rowan Saturday, Sept. 23, at 6:00 p.m.
