WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson football team (0-3, 0-2 NJAC) suffered a 41-14 loss to Rowan (3-0, 2-0 NJAC) Sept. 16 during the Pioneers' home opener.

Senior Kelvin White, Jr. and junior Kyle Fanning (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) found the end zone for WP. Sophomore linebacker Corey Anthony (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay) paced the defense with 10 tackles.

The Profs scored on their first possession after back-to back runs of 35 and two yards by junior Anthony Diorio. Senior Tyler Knighton kicked the PAT and Rowan owned a 7-0 advantage 2:11 into the contest.

After the two teams exchanged punts, Knighton connected on a 26-yard field goal with 2:52 remaining in the opening period. A 47-yard Jamel Smith punt return less than two minutes later allowed the Profs to finish the quarter with a 17-0 edge.

Rowan produced the only points of the second period on a 39-yard Naldy Tavarez-to-J.J. Kulcsar post play 81 seconds before halftime.

Diorio opened the third quarter with a 69-yard score (31-0, 14:40), and after turnovers on three consecutive snaps, the Profs converted for three points on a Knighton 34-yard field goal (34-0, 9:58).

Junior Cahsim Henry (Lindenwold, N.J./Lindenwold) picked up 44 total yards on three consecutive carries, and after a 15-yard Prof personal foul, White found a gap on the left side of the field and ripped off a 26-yard TD. Sophomore Brandon Harley (Pennsauken, N.J./Pennsauken)'s extra point was good, making it a 34-7 margin with 8:37 to play in the third.

Sophomore defensive back Kameron Kennedy picked up a fumble and returned it 52 yards to the end zone, pushing Rowan ahead by a 41-7 count with 41 seconds on the clock in the third period.

Freshman linebacker Bryan King (Williamstown, N.J./Williamstown) recovered a Prof fumble inside the Rowan-15, and four plays later Fanning took a pitch left and crossed the goal line with 2:47 left for the game's final points.

Sophomore quarterback Mike Yarosz (Montague, N.J./High Point Regional) was 4-for-16 for 42 yards and an interception, while Henry picked up 60 yards on 10 rushing attempts. Four different WP players came down with a reception.
