Sixth-Seeded Baseball to Face Second-Seeded Ramapo in NJAC Tournament Elimination Game Saturday

PITMAN, N.J. – Sixth-seeded William Paterson (15-20-2, 8-10 NJAC) will take on second-seeded Ramapo (22-15, 15-3 NJAC) in an elimination game of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament Saturday, May 6, at 12:00 p.m. at Kean. Live statistics and live video will be available.
 
WP students with valid ID will be admitted for free. General Admission is $5.00, and students, senior citizens and children 12 and under will be admitted for $2.00.
 
The format for the remainder of the double-elimination tournament will be determined after the completion of the May 5 contests. Kean will host the rest of the event Saturday-Sunday, May 6-7.
 
The Pioneers are coming off an 18-6 first-round loss at top-seeded and 18th-ranked The College of New Jersey (29-10, 15-3 NJAC) May 2. Earlier this season, WP lost 14-7 to the Roadrunners April 20 in Wayne, and 19-4 at Ramapo April 21. William Paterson is looking to win its 13th NJAC Tournament title (1959, 1982, 1983, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997).
 
Junior catcher Jorge Solodkin (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) is hitting .333 with 11 RBI, and honorable-mention all-NJAC junior outfielder Anthony Hoagland (Dumont, N.J./Dumont) owns a .324 batting average while starting all 37 games, contributing 10 doubles, two triples, 22 RBI, 30 runs scored and a .421 on-base percentage.  

Sophomore Chris Babb (West Milford, N.J./DePaul Catholic) leads the WP starting pitchers with a 2.88 ERA (ninth in conference), compiling a 3-3 record and 50 strikeouts in 59.1 innings while starting nine of 12 appearances. He paces the league with a .187 opponent batting average. Senior Frank Colasante (Paramus, N.J./Paramus) has seen action in 16 games out of the bullpen, posting a 3.46 ERA in 26.0 innings pitched while making an NJAC-leading eight saves (fifth in Division III).
