Blazevska Earns Senior Award and Sets School Record, Women’s Swimming and Diving Finishes Eighth at Mets

Senior Vera Blazevska notched an NCAA "B" cut time and broke her own school record with a 2:21.89 in the 200 breast on the final day of Mets.
PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Senior Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) set the school record in the 200 breast as the William Paterson women's swimming and diving team finished eighth of 13 Division III teams and 11th of 16 teams overall at the Metropolitan Championships Feb. 19.

Blazevska broke her 200 breast school record twice during the day, first with a 2:22.17 time in the 200 breast prelims and later with a 2:21.89 mark in the 200 breast A Finals. The senior would finish second in the 200 breast A Final, notching an NCAA Division III "B" cut qualifying time. The previous record in the 200 breast was 2:22.32, which was set by Blazevska during the 2014-15 season. The senior also received the Metropolitan Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference's Dick Krempecki Outstanding Senior Award at the conclusion of the championships. Given annually to an outstanding senior who has contributed the most to the Metropolitan Conference and to the sport of swimming, the award is named in honor of long-time St. John's head coach Dick Krempecki.
