PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Senior
Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) set the school record in the 200 breast as the William Paterson women's swimming and diving team finished eighth of 13 Division III teams and 11th of 16 teams overall at the Metropolitan Championships Feb. 19.
Blazevska broke her 200 breast school record twice during the day, first with a 2:22.17 time in the 200 breast prelims and later with a 2:21.89 mark in the 200 breast A Finals. The senior would finish second in the 200 breast A Final, notching an NCAA Division III "B" cut qualifying time. The previous record in the 200 breast was 2:22.32, which was set by Blazevska during the 2014-15 season. The senior also received the Metropolitan Collegiate Swimming and Diving Conference's Dick Krempecki Outstanding Senior Award at the conclusion of the championships. Given annually to an outstanding senior who has contributed the most to the Metropolitan Conference and to the sport of swimming, the award is named in honor of long-time St. John's head coach Dick Krempecki.
All told, WP had eight swimmers compete in finals events, five personal-best times were set and one season-best relay time was recorded on the final day at Mets.

Quinn Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran) set a career-best time and placed second in the 200 back C Final (2:16.39). Freshman
Mariah Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour) notched eighth in the 200 breast C Final, which was also a personal-best mark (2:46.22).
Freshman
Anna Boyton (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional) earned her fastest time of the season and placed sixth in the 200 fly C Final (2:37.50), sophomore
Christianne Joyce Pineda (Haskell, N.J./Hackensack) notched seventh in the 200 fly C Final (2:43.99), and senior
Christine Gustafson (Clifton, N.J./Clifton) touched eighth in the 200 fly C Final (2:46.20).
The Pioneers' 400 free relay team of sophomore
Casey Murphy (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional), Blazevska, freshman
Janice Costa (Clifton, N.J./Bergen Arts and Science) and Reynolds took fourth in the B Final, setting a season-best time (3:53.85).
WP featured two members in the 36-swimmer 1,650 free. Murphy placed 24th behind a season-best time (20:05.48), and senior
Cassandra Beck (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) registered 29th (21:00.16).
