PISCATAWAY, N.J. - Senior
Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) broke the 400 IM school record as the William Paterson women's swimming and diving ended day two of the Metropolitan Championships seventh of 13 teams and 10th of 16 overall, Feb. 18.
Blazevska swam a 4:41.09 in the 400 IM prelims to break her own school record (4:42.04), set in the 2015-16 season. Blazevksa would go on to finish third in the 400 IM A Final (4:45.59) and fifth in the 100 breast A Final (1:06.37). Her 100 breast time in the prelims (1:06.31) was just .24 second off the school-record pace of 1:06.07 from 2014-15.
Sophomore
Quinn Reynolds (Delran, N.J./Delran), Blazevska, freshman
Anna Boyton (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional) and sophomore
Casey Murphy (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) would go on to touch second in the 200 medley relay B Final (1:53.84).
Reynolds also touched third in the 100 back C Final (1:01.55), setting a career-best mark, and senior
Courtney Lawler (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) notched sixth in the one-meter dive (315.55).
Senior
Cassandra Beck (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) recorded an eighth place finish in the 400 IM B Final (5:25.39).
Murphy, Beck, freshman
Janice Costa (Clifton, N.J./Bergen Arts and Science) and Boyton placed 14th in the 800 medley relay (9:02.23).
The Pioneers conclude competition at the Metropolitan Championships Sunday, Feb. 19.
