BOSTON, Mass. – The William Paterson women's basketball team (1-1) blitzed the Galluadet Bison (0-1), 82-54, during the opening round of the Emmanuel College Tip-Off Classic for their first victory of the season, Nov. 18.
Junior
Sihana Asani (Lincoln Park, N.J./Boonton) led the Pioneers with 16 points, including four three-pointers, in the win. Senior
Tori Woetzel (Wyckoff, N.J./Ramapo) poured in 12 points as well on a day when 12 different WP players scored.
The Pioneers jumped ahead early, taking a 25-16 lead after the opening 10 minutes. The trend continued as WP outscored the Bison, 21-13, during the second quarter to take a 17-point advantage into halftime, 46-29. The Pioneers continued to outscore Galluadet in each quarter of the second half, coming away with the 28-point victory.
WP will now face host Emmanuel in the championship round of the tournament Sunday, Nov. 19, after the Saints dismantled Yeshiva University, 100-18, during the second opening-round matchup.
