WAYNE, N.J. – The Pioneer tennis team (0-7) took on Drew University (1-0) Wednesday afternoon, falling 9-0 in a non-conference test on their home courts.

In the singles competition, sophomore
Kaworu Ishikawa (Egg Harbor Twp., N.J./Egg Harbor Twp.) took two games in the second set, but could not get past Ashley Camel, falling 6-0, 6-2 in first singles. At third singles, sophomore
Sam Uribe (Paterson, N.J./Passaic County Tech) took four games overall, but ultimately came up short 6-1, 6-3.

The Pioneers battled in the doubles competition, but fell in all three matches of the day. Ishikawa and freshman
Arrion Berry (Deptford, N.J./Deptford Twp.) fell to Camel and Maria Navas-Espinal 8-2, while sophomore
Michele Boyle (Pompton Plains, N.J./Pequannock Twp.) and sophomore
Julienn Guzman (Jersey City, N.J./Liberty) were tripped up by Ty Ty Witten and Cristina Riccio, 8-1.

William Paterson will return to action next Wednesday, October 11 when they host the College of Staten Island in their final home matchup of the fall season with the opening serve scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
