WAYNE, N.J. - The William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (10-5, 0-3 NJAC) dropped its final home meet of the season to Ramapo (4-3, 1-3 NJAC), 175-84, Jan. 31.
Junior
Anthony Taboadela (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) posted another effort as a triple winner, touching first in the 100 (54.24) and 200 backs (1:59.26) as well as the 200 IM (2:02.14). The junior's times in the 100 and 200 backs were season-best marks.
Sophomore
Drew Macchia (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) was the Pioneers' only single winner, giving WP the victory in the 50 free (50.92). Macchia was narrowly out-touched in the 100 free, taking second by just .07 second.
Freshman
Eamon Logue (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Twp.) placed third in the 200 free but broke the two-minute barrier by setting a personal-best time (1:58.12). Junior
Sammuel Melendez (West Haverstraw, N.Y./North Rockland) also notched a personal best, doing so in the 200 breast (2:28.34).
WP was just 3.36 seconds off the school record in the 200 medley relay (1:41.20) swam by Macchia, Melendez, Taboadela and senior
Nick Cowie (Newton, N.J./Newton).
The Pioneers will compete in their final meet before the Metropolitan Championships when they travel to The College of New Jersey Saturday, Feb. 4, at 2:00 p.m.
