WAYNE, N.J. - Three double winners pushed the William Paterson men's swimming and diving team (10-3) to a 108-51 Senior Day victory against Bard (2-5) Jan. 21.
Junior
Anthony Taboadela (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Hills) touched first in the 100 IM (56.13) and 50 back (26.61), barely missing record times in both events.
Freshman
Jimmy Sharkey (Hamilton, N.J./Hamilton West) won the 1,000 (11:39.40) and 500 (5:30.45) frees, both of which were personal bests. Freshman
Emmanuel Garcia (Ridgewood, N.J./Ridgewood) also claimed two events, winning the one-meter (154.06) and three-meter (151.30) dives.
WP's balanced win also included three single winners, led by freshman
Eamon Logue (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Twp.) and his personal-best time in the 100 free (53.06). Senior
Nick Cowie (Newton, N.J./Newton) won the 50 fly (25.03) and sophomore
Drew Macchia (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) took home the 50 free (23.06), coming up just .06 second behind Cowie in the 50 fly.
Taboadela, junior
Sammuel Melendez (West Haverstraw, N.Y./North Rockland), Cowie and Macchia won the 200 medley relay (1:43.67),
and senior
Jeremy Oiler (Hamilton, N.J./Nottingham), senior
Grant Ashcraft (Penns Grove, N.J./Woodstown), Cowie and Logue finished first in the 200 free relay (1:38.06).
During the meet, the Pioneers honored senior members, Ashcraft, Oiler and Cowie.
The Pioneers will host Montclair State in a New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) matchup Saturday, Jan. 28, at 1:00 p.m.
