WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (9-4) came up with the final two points of the match for a 25-17, 20-25, 24-26, 25-23, 15-13 victory against visiting Baruch (6-12) Sept. 29.
Tied at 13-13, the Pioneers used a Bearcat attack error and a kill from sophomore outside hitter
Amanda Lembo (North Haledon, N.J./DePaul Catholic) to finish off the win.
Freshman outside/middle hitter
Alyson Toman (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) led WP with 12 kills, and sophomore setter
Kendall Caruso (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) collected seven kills, 36 assists and 23 digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Christine Griffith (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) added eight kills to her 26 digs, junior libero
Julianna Ginefra (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) had 25 digs, and Lembo posted a double-double with 11 kills and 15 digs. Freshman libero
Kristina Ulrich (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) finished with 15 digs, freshman setter
Rachael Dallara (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J./Hasbrouck Heights) had 10 digs, and sophomore middle hitter
Chelliah Phillips (Bergenfield, N.J./Bergenfield) put up nine kills, seven block solos and two block assists.
Senior right side hitter Akilah Meulens paced Baruch with 23 kills. Freshman setter Stephanie Cornwell dished 45 assists, and senior outside hitter Alessandra Chavez and senior libero Marisa Bou each tallied 28 digs.
William Paterson will play in a tri-match at Mount Saint Mary Saturday, Oct. 1, facing the Knights at 11:00 a.m. and Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts at 1:00 p.m.
