JERSEY CITY, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (8-4, 1-3 NJAC) won a five-set thriller at New Jersey City (6-5, 0-4 NJAC) Sept. 27. Freshman outside/middle hitter
Alyson Toman (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) led all players with 18 kills.
The Pioneers secured 25-13 and 25-17 victories to open the match, but lost the next two by identical 25-23 scores. Tied at 9-9 in the fifth set, WP reeled off six of the final seven points for a 15-10 win.
Sophomore middle hitter
Chelliah Phillips (Bergenfield, N.J./Bergenfield) posted 16 kills, and sophomore setter
Kendall Caruso (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) had 45 assists and 13 digs. Sophomore outside hitter
Christine Griffith (Upper Saddle River, N.J./Northern Highlands Regional) finished with eight kills and 21 digs, sophomore outside hitter
Amanda Lembo (North Haledon, N.J./DePaul Catholic) tallied 13 kills and 12 digs, and junior libero
Julianna Ginefra (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) collected 15 digs. Freshman setter
Rachael Dallara (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J./Hasbrouck Heights) chipped in 13 digs.
Sophomore outside hitter Amber O'Donnell had 17 kills and 23 digs for the Gothic Knights. Junior setter Rachel McIntyre collected 46 assists and 17 digs.
William Paterson will host Baruch Thursday, Sept. 29, at 7:00 p.m.
