PITMAN, N.J. – Sixth-seeded William Paterson (20-18, 9-9 NJAC) will play at top-seeded Kean (24-14, 13-5 NJAC) in the first round of the New Jersey Athletic Conference Baseball Tournament Tuesday, May 3, at 3:30 p.m.

WP students with ID will be admitted for free. General Admission is $5.00, and students, senior citizens and children 12 and under will be admitted for $2.00. WP students with ID will be admitted for free.
The double-elimination tournament will continue Thursday, May 5, with 3:30 p.m. contests at campus sites, and Kean will host the remainder of the tournament Saturday-Sunday, May 7-8.
On May 3, second-seeded The College of New Jersey (28-8, 12-6 NJAC) will host fifth-seeded Montclair State (20-18, 10-8 NJAC), and third-seeded Ramapo (29-9-1, 11-7 NJAC) will host fourth-seeded Rowan (23-16, 11-7 NJAC).
The winner of the Kean/WP game will take on the loser of the Ramapo/Rowan game on May 5. The loser of the Kean/WP game will face the loser of the TCNJ/Montclair State contest in an elimination game May 5.
The Pioneers are coming off a sweep at New Jersey City, 13-5 and 10-3, on April 30. Earlier this season, WP and Kean swapped road victories, with the Pioneers posting a 4-2 win April 8 and the Cougars taking a 6-3 victory April 11. William Paterson is looking to win its 13th NJAC Tournament title (1959, 1982, 1983, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1996, 1997).
Junior center fielder
Mike Abate (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Hills) leads the Pioneers with a .388 batting average, 42 runs scored and five triples, adding nine doubles, a home run and 21 RBI. Graduate student shortstop
K.C. Abel (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) paces the league with 19 doubles and 52 RBI, hitting .370 while collecting three triples, two homers and 32 runs scored. Senior outfielder
Jimmy Kenny (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex Regional) owns a .326 average, 12 doubles, two triples, a pair of home runs, 26 RBI and 24 runs scored.
Senior
Mitch D'Amato (Edison, N.J./Edison) is 6-2 with a 2.93 ERA while starting eight of 13 appearances, striking out 29 and walking 13 during 55.1 innings pitched. Sophomore
Bryan Kopko (Colonia, N.J./Colonia) has compiled a 4-3 record and 2.84 ERA while making 18 appearances (one start), posting six saves, 11 strikeouts and 10 walks over 31.2 innings.
