WP Win Streak Snapped at Four Games

Video Highlights

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson women's soccer team (9-3-1, 2-3 NJAC) fell to the Kean Cougars (7-6, 2-3 NJAC) 3-1 Oct. 8, snapping the Pioneers' four-game win streak.

Down 2-0 in the 65th minute, WP started the workings of a comeback when freshman forward Marisa Adelman (Branchburg, N.J./Somerville) headed a loose ball to freshman midfielder Kristen Bowe (Rockaway, N.J./Morris Knolls) for a header goal inside the left post.

Kean put the game out of reach in the 88th minute when freshman midfielder Brittany Morales headed in junior midfielder Kendall Machuk's corner kick amongst a crowd of bodies, giving Kean the final 3-1 advantage.

The day's scoring started when Kean freshman forward Lexi Monroy used senior midfielder Jordan Bronsky's through ball to put the Cougars ahead 1-0 at the 15:06 mark.

Bronsky tucked a shot inside the left post from eight yards out, making it 2-0 Kean in the 51st minute. Freshman back Deana Abdou chipped in on the assist.

Pioneer sophomore goalkeeper Angela Sandelli (Landing, N.J./Roxbury) made five stops, and senior Lauren Healey had six saves for Kean.

The Pioneers will play at Montclair State Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 7:00 p.m.
