COBLESKILL, N.Y. – Six different Pioneers won at least one event as the William Paterson women's swimming and diving team (5-0) defeated SUNY Cobleskill (0-2), 103-84, Oct. 29.
Senior
Vera Blazevska (Wayne, N.J./Wayne Valley) led the way for WP with three wins, touching first in the 200 IM (2:29.41), 500 free (5:46.66) and 100 breast (1:11.55).
A pair of sophomores,
Casey Murphy (Hardyston, N.J./Wallkill Valley Regional) and
Quinn Reynolds (Delran, N.J/Delran), came in as double winners. Murphy was victorious in both the 1,000 free (12:28.18) and 200 free (2:14.77), while Reynolds won the 50 free (27.45) and posted a season-best time in the 100 free (1:00.60).
Senior diver
Courtney Lawler (Northfield, N.J./Mainland Regional) was also a double winner, posting high scores in the one-meter required (165.20) and one-meter optional (223.95) events.
Sophomore
Christianne Joyce Pineda (Haskell, N.J./Hackensack) won the 100 fly (1:08.89) and freshman
Nicole Mitchell (Sussex, N.J./Vernon Twp.) registered her first career individual victory by touching first in the 100 back (1:10.72).
Murphy, Pineda, senior
Cassandra Beck (Lusby, Md./Patuxent) and Reynolds won the 200 free relay (1:53.14). Reynolds anchored the group and posted the fastest split in the relay (26.39).
A quartet of freshmen comprised of Mitchell,
Mariah Jenkins (Brooklyn, N.Y./St. Saviour),
Anna Boyton (Sewell, N.J./Clearview Regional) and
Janice Costa (Clifton, N.J./Bergen Arts and Science), narrowly missed the victory in the 200 medley relay (2:06.60).
WP will host Maritime Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 6:00 p.m.
