Volleyball Earns Pair of 3-0 Sweeps

WAYNE, N.J. – The William Paterson volleyball team (3-0) secured a pair of 3-0 home sweeps against Saint Elizabeth (0-2) and St. Joseph's-Brooklyn (0-2) Sept. 5.
 
The Pioneers started the day with a 25-9, 25-18, 25-15 victory against CSE. Junior outside hitter Erin Roach (Clark, N.J./Union County Vo-Tech) led all players with 15 kills and 14 digs, adding a pair of service aces, and freshman setter Kendall Caruso (Secaucus, N.J./Secaucus) collected 23 assists and eight digs. Freshman outside hitter Amanda Lembo (North Haledon, N.J./DePaul Catholic) had 11 digs, while classmate Nicole Polak (Parsippany, N.J./Parsippany) contributed two block solos and a pair of block assists.
 
Freshman Carolina Marte paced the Eagles with eight kills and eight digs. Junior Nicole Morera finished with 23 assists.

WP ended the day with a 25-7, 25-4, 25-13 win against the Lady Bears. Spicer led the Pioneers with 14 kills, adding nine digs and four aces, while Roach posted 12 kills and nine digs. Caruso finished with 34 assists, eight digs and six aces, and sophomore libero Julianna Ginefra (Springfield, N.J./Jonathan Dayton) collected 14 digs.
 
Senior Lauren GaNun led St. Joseph's-Brooklyn with five kills, freshman Nina DiCioccio had eight digs and senior Anna Carbone dished eight assists.
 
William Paterson will visit Centenary Tuesday, Sept. 8, at 7:00 p.m.
